Photography Exhibiton – “From Marco to Polo – On the Silk Road”

Drawing on the book “The Travels of Marco Polo,” by the greatest adventurer of his time, the man who connected East and West more than 700 years ago, the author guides us through exotic, at times surreal, regions and cultures in search of evidence of Marco Polo’s travels. On the Silk Road, we will encounter territories and discover numerous cultural-historical curiosities and cultural differences. We will be introduced to Islamic, Hindu, and Buddhist religious and civilizational spheres. The warmest deserts of Iran, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, and China are depicted. The author of the exhibition and his team climbed over 5,000 meters in Tajikistan and Tibet and traversed 18 countries. In Marco Polo’s time, the network of trade routes was full of abundance, but also dangers and wars. Much like today.
In conversations with ordinary people, stories were heard about customs, beliefs, crafts, and behaviors unknown to us, as well as the values of life that have developed or are developing. The experience of the fantastic world and imagination has not changed much since the time of Marco Polo.
