Sun, Sea, and Serenity on Korčula – Bačva Beach

We arrived early in the morning, just as the sun was warming the shoreline, and for the first half hour, we had the entire beach to ourselves. The only sounds were the gentle lapping of the waves and the distant hum of cicadas in the surrounding pine trees. It’s rare to find such calm and quiet in peak season, and it made the experience feel even more special.

Bačva’s crystal-clear water is some of the cleanest on the island—perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The beach is made up of smooth white pebbles, and the water deepens gradually, making it great for both casual swimmers and families with kids. With your mask and snorkel on, you’ll find small fish darting among the rocks just a few meters from shore.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can rent kayaks or stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) right from the beach. And for those who prefer to relax, there are sunbeds and sunshades available to rent, so you can spend hours soaking up the sun in comfort.

There’s a charming beachside restaurant just a few steps from the water, offering casual local food with unbeatable views of the bay. For lunch, we kept it simple but satisfying: juicy grilled chicken and vegetables, flavorful ćevapčići, crispy calamari, and a side of golden fries. Everything was freshly made and ideal for refueling after a morning of swimming.

We ended on a sweet note with a serving of crepes—thin, warm, and filled with chocolate, the perfect light dessert before heading back down to the beach for a lazy afternoon.
